ATTORNEY GENERAL CANDIDATE, INITIATIVE PROPONENT & LOCAL OFFICIALS FEATURED AT WASHINGTON RURAL ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK (WREN) TOWN HALL
CHENEY, WA // SEPTEMBER 7, 2024 – Newly-formed nonprofit, Washington Rural Environmental Network (WREN) will host WA Attorney General Candidate Pete Serrano, Brian Heywood, citizen initiative leader of “Let’s Go Washington”, and Eastern Washington elected officials at a Cheney, WA Town Hall to discuss policies central to rural communities.
WREN president and founder Sue Lani Madsen shares,
“While many factors affect rural growth, WREN's interest is in bringing rural voices into shaping those policies affecting new residents and our economic opportunities.” Madsen continues, “Much more than other western states, Washington’s rural population grew by over nine percent (9.4%) during the last census, 2010 to 2020.” National rural growth during that time was a minus half percent (0.5%).”
WA attorney general candidate Pete Serrano states,
"I’m excited to join the West Plains Town Hall with the Washington Rural Environmental Network (WREN). As Mayor of Pasco, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our rural communities face and the impact that decisions made in Olympia have on rural Washington's farms, businesses, tribes, and families. I’m looking forward to hearing directly from the folks in Cheney and sharing my commitment to public safety, service, and transparency."
WA attorney general candidate Nick Brown was invited to attend and regrets other campaign commitments that weekend - wishing all involved all the best for a successful event.
Let’s Go Washington advocate Brian Heywood states, “
“One party dominance in Olympia has made the legislature tone deaf and arrogant. This means they have overturned voters’ efforts, ignored constituents and created laws to punish dissenters and reward special interests. Probably no community has been impacted more than the rural farms and towns that make this state great. I grew up in rural AZ but raised my children in Washington state. I am excited to be with and hear from the real folks that make the engine run.”
